I started the Glass Agency in 2008 after working in music distribution since the mid 90's. I had run a little mail-order and record label before that, and toured around the world playing in various bands (which I continue to do occassionally despite being old), and after a spell at Rough Trade shop in London (in the days when kids would queue around the block desperate to buy the new Mogwait 7"...) I got a job label managing and looking after export sales at Southern Studios where I was lucky enough to work with my favourite labels includeding Dischord, Touch & Go, K Records, Crass, etc. From this time until the early 2000's I also booked tours under the name Tacet Booking for bands that most booking agents wouldn't touch at the time (At The Drive-In, Melt Banana, Blonde Redhead, The Get-Up Kids, Braid, The Van Pelt, Bluetip and loads of others...) - it was all very punk rock and ethical, and as the bands got bigger, bigger promoters got involved, the ethics started to go out of the window for a lot of bands and my hobby ended up being too often disappointing to continue. In 2001 I joined the corporate machine as a buyer and then later a business analyst for one of the UK's biggest music distributors (T.H.E.). There I spent many happy years learning how the corporate machine works from the inside. There are some really nice people working for horrible huge companies! Anyway, at some point I missed the indie life too much and started my own distribution company called Forte. And as another few years went by I was bitten by the booking bug once more.
