Seahawks were formed by Pete Fowler and Jon Tye in 2010. Their first release ‘Astral Tides’ on Static Caravan, preceded a crazy amount of releases, including four 12’s, two albums, two 7’s and two 7 track CD’s, swiftly creating a sizeable and voracious fan base. All of their releases are beautifully packaged and released in limited editions.
Their sound has been described as everything from deck shoegaze, cosmic yacht-rock, classic ambient, cosmic disco, AOR, Peter Green-ish blues, psych rock, Krautrock, dub, Animals-era Pink Floyd and curious Balearica.
Recently they released their first album to be recorded with live musicians rather than a hard drive full of samples. The resulting album ‘Invisible Sunrise’ has had a fantastic reception and been included in end of year charts by both Rough Trade and Phonica.
Following remixes for Badly Drawn Boy and Sound Of Rum, this year sees remixes of Born Blonde (just released), The Advisory Circle, Crue-L Grand Orchestra, The Horrors and several others.
Seahawks keep up the pace with a 12” single in February (remixes of tracks from Invisible Sunrise by Dr Dunks and Gatto Fritto), a deep listening vinyl abum called ‘Tender Abyss’ in April, a new album in the summer, a live DVD and various other products along with live shows in Japan and Europe as well as selected DJ sets including their regular bi monthly residency at the Big Chill bar in London.
